District Magistrate Shimla Amit Kashyap said this here today that top priority has been given to make available of adequate ration and food to the people stranded during the Corona crisis in the district. The District Administration provided ration, food and essential items to 33003 labourers, migrant and other needy persons.
He said that ration, food and other facilities were provided to 12755 people in Shimla Urban area. Ration, food and other facilities were provided to 5100 persons in Shimla Rural, 3486 persons in Rampur, 4030 persons in Rohru, 4210 persons in Kumarsain, 1469 persons in Chopal and 1953 persons in Theog.
He said that in order to implement this system effectively at the district level, intensive monitoring and coordination is being done and Sub-Divisional Magistrate are monitoring the distribution work so that ration is made available to all needy people on priority.
He said that 22 organizations including Sood Sabha, Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Shri Guru Singh Sabha, Nirankari Mission and Art of Living and other non government organizations providing food, milk, ration, flour, dals, rice, masks and sanitizers etc. to the needy people as per the instructions of District Administrations.
He expressed his gratitude to all the organizations and persons to providing support to the needy people during this crisis and ensuring their active participation in this noble cause. He said that due to concerted efforts of all, availability of adequate quantity of food and ration to the needy people was ensured well in time.
He said that the district administration is identifying the needy people, assessing their needs, holding regular meetings with organisations and making arrangements for distributions of ration essential items.
He said that the lists were made for distribution on the basis of inputs given by the councillors of each ward, Patwaris of the respective areas and information received from NGO’s and other resources.
He said that after imposing the curfew, priority was given by the District Administration to provide the health facilities as well as to prevent the spread of corona infection, providing ration and other facilities to the workers, migrant labourers and needy people in the district.
He said that District Administration officials were constantly obtaining information regarding Kashmiri labourers staying at the Jama Masjid, Middle Bazaar in Shimla. Who had refused to take ration or food as they had adequate availability of food. He said that the demand of most of the workers living there was to provide vehicles and send them back to their home places from Shimla, but this was not possible as per the guidelines issued by government in the wake of Corona virus.
He appealed to the people that if there is any information pertaining to a person deprived of food or ration, they should bring it to the notice of the district administration on priority to ensure availability of ration, cooked food or daily usage items to the needy people.
